After two years of waiting, the city of Los Angeles finally made its celebration to honor the late Martin Luther King Jr.

On Monday, January 6, L.A. sparked festivities to celebrate the life, works and noble contributions of the legendary civil rights activist.

The 38th Annual Kingdom Day Parade was conducted for the first time since 2020, with the previous two years postponed by the higher authorities due to health and safety threats of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The said grand parade is heavily considered as the largest and longest running Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration in the entire United States.

The parade, which started on the infamous Martin Luther King Jr. boulevard and ended in the newly-built Leimert Park Metro Station, was welcomed with smiles and open arms by various parade goers – encompassing normal citizens, students, activists, local leaders, and elected officials of Los Angeles local government unit.

Thousands of spectators have enjoyed various floats, marching bands, dancers performing and drumlines – while some are displaying civil and peaceful rallies for their own cause, most notably about police brutality and ending racism.

More than the performances, satisfying demonstrations of the bands and others, it was very much important to keep the lessons and heroism of Luther King Jr. in fighting for civil rights – with the theme “Making America the Last Best Hope of the World" being bannered for this year.

Living in California, a gym and fitness buff, and looking for some motivation to get back on the grind of a leg day following the holiday season? Worry no more because this recent study proves that Golden State is a great hotspot for wellness.

This study conducted by SmartAsset displays their list of cities in the United States that are considerably great in cultivating fitness.

Setting up criterias such as (1) Percentage of residents who walk or bike to work; (2) Concentration of fitness professionals; (3) Concentration of fitness establishments; (4) Concentration of fast-food restaurants; and (5) Average hourly wage of personal trainers in 304 metro areas, you may at least take a glance if your city is included here and how they were ranked.

As such, one California metro area made its mark on the ladder of this online financial hub – establishing itself as a great place to juice some sweat and attain a great living out of workout.

San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles: Golden State's Fitness Haven

The San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles, an area in Northern California, managed to crack within the top 10 of the list.

SmartAsset pointed out that the San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles ranks top 25 on their criteria of number of fitness professionals (35) and fitness establishments (105) per 10,000. The city also shelters restaurants that offer less than 40% percent of fast foods – an encouraging sales strategy that allows people not to purchase and consume unhealthy foods.

Greatly ranked based on the given standards, San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles stood up as one of the best places to be fit and healthy.

But more than anything else, it managed to outlast the mega cities of California in the likes of Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and San Francisco. These mentioned cities weren't able to make it to the list.

As such, besides San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles, there are other Cali cities that made it to the list:

17th: Chico

19th: Santa Cruz and Watsonville

20th: Santa Maria and Santa Barbara

40th: Redding

The city of Missoula in the state of Montana leads the list of the most "fitness-friendly" cities in the United States, reclaiming the top spot after three years.

"You don't want to see us next year."

That served as the echoing one-liner phrase from Stephen Curry, moments after the Golden State Warriors crumbled in the 2021 Play-In against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Dubs had two great opportunities to advance to the playoffs, but they blew it and can only contemplate on what would be their next step.

Little known by many, who would have thought that this sentence ultimately paved the way towards the revival of the Golden State dynasty in the 2022-23 season?

2021 NBA Draft

Owning two first-round picks from the huge Andrew Wiggins trade and their devastating loss in the Play-In last season, the Warriors had a shot to position themselves for a great future.

The Dubs picked Jonathan Kuminga for the seventh pick of the 2021 Draft, wherein the 18-year-old forward from G League Ignite possesses a wonderful physical and athletic wits at a young age. Meanwhile, the well-rounded swingman Moses Moody was chosen for the 14th pick of the rookie selection.

Curry forges long-term bond, Iguodala rejoins team, Porter Jr. and Bjelica slides in

To show his confidence to the franchise that they'll be able to do special moments again, Curry further pledged his allegiance with Golden State, hammering a four-year, $215 million extension that will tie him until the 2025-2026 season in the Bay Area. Many have thought it was a bold move for the two-time MVP, given the speculations and doubts if the Warriors can still regain their lost glory.

After two years of lost connection, the Dubs regained Andre Iguodala in free agency for added familiarity and bold hopes of the team for a potential title hunt. They also signed free-agents Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica to a one-year deal for added frontcourt depth and firepower off the bench.

Curry breaks NBA's three-point record

The Warriors have blazed off to a strong start in December last year, imposing a 23-5 record behind the brilliance of Curry, Jordan Poole being sensational and the blooming resurgence of starting wingman Andrew Wiggins. As such, the superstar point guard was also on the cusp of historic mark – becoming the NBA's all-time 3-point king.

On December 15, in front of the world's famous Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks, Curry buried his 2,974th 3-pointer with 7:33 left in the first quarter that elevated him above the mountaintop of the league's record in threes made. Following the triumph, a timeout was made to conduct a lengthy celebration for Curry, who embraced the joyous crowd, teammates, family, as well as Reggie Miller and Ray Allen – two of the best marksmen in the game who held the record prior to Curry.

“I thought the night was perfect,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who called timeout after the record shot to make room for a celebration. “It just pretty much encapsulated who he is and his reaction to it was perfect.”

Klay makes return after two-season absence

Klay Thompson can't wait enough to nail a bucket after 941 days of absence since being sidelined due to both ACL and Achilles injury.

And on January 9, he surely made it happen as he finally made a comeback.

Driving his way hard towards the hoop, Thompson registered a two-point layup in the first possession against the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing two seasons for the Warriors. The two markers only contributed to the 17 total points he made on the night of his much awaited return.

17 points in 19 minutes. Amid minute restriction, it was a familiar performance from the star shooting guard.

“I was so excited I saw a lane to the basket that I just took the opportunity,” Thompson said. ” After that I thought it was going to be one of those nights where I might be unconscious. I did not shoot as well as I wanted to but I’m so happy I can even look at the stat sheet and see my name there. It’s been a long run. I’m not going to say it equivalent to winning a championship but it was pretty close.”

Throughout the night, the Chase Center crowd was rejoicing. Thompson endured more than he can ever imagine and he's finally back loving the moment again.

75th All-Star Game; Curry named MVP

The 2022-23 season has reached the middle part, with the league's 75th All-Star game taking its place. As expected, Stephen Curry's inclusion was given his usual greatness, with Draymond Green unfortunately unavailable to join him in Cleveland due to his injury.

But more than Curry, it was Andrew Wiggins who gained relevance on the Warriors. After five years in the NBA, the former top overall pick made it to the All-Star team and finally lived up to his potential. As he spent his early years in the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins found a home in the Bay Area that ultimately locked his capabilities.

With all the stars being aligned for the All-Star game, Curry erupted with 50 markers to go with a record 16 threes en route to his first Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP

Golden postseason run

The Warriors had a rising regular season, poised for a probable title run yet again. Complete and fully packed entering the postseason stage, they imposed a 53-29 record that was good enough for the Western Conference's third seed.

Landing in the first round bracket, the Dubs had a daunting challenge in front of them – the Denver Nuggets with the reigning back-to-back league MVP Nikola Jokic. Despite the fact that they were undermanned, the Nuggets proved themselves as worthy playoff enemy with Jokic's all-around greatness leading them

The Warriors went on to carve an early 3-0 series lead, giving the Nuggets a hard time to make a comeback. The saga was forced to fifth game, but Curry didn't allow Denver to recover and went on to beat Jokic and the co. via gentleman's sweep.

Marching in the second round, the young and exciting Memphis Grizzlies were waiting for them, but the Dubs didn't falter with their experience and glowing championship identity.

Despite not having a homecourt advantage, the Dubs put up a quick work and finished off the Grizzlies in six games. With Ja Morant handicapped, the Warriors capitalized his absence to be able to make a drop off to the Conference Finals.

The Warriors arrived in the Conference Finals with momentum rising for regaining their old golden touch, but on their way was the sensational Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. The Slovenian phenom led his ball squad in squashing the regular season best in Phoenix Suns to secure a ticket to the title semis.

The Warriors' overwhelming championship pedigree and experience proved to be too much for the Mavs, as they went down 0-3 and in brink of elimination. After forcing a critical Game 5, Curry and Wiggins didn't allow Dallas to live and fight for another day – as they powered the Warriors back to the NBA Finals.

The Warriors have climbed their way up to a familiar place – the NBA Finals. But on their entry, a gritty and hungry Boston Celtics team who fought their way up also was looking for blood.

Despite this challenge, Curry and his squad didn't fear the adversity. Combatting self-errors, the pressure of the Boston defense and the towering odds as the underdogs, the Warriors have knuckled the Celtics in a gruelling six-game title series.

It was a moment of glory yet again for Curry and Golden State – fourth NBA title in an eight-year span. More than anything, the last season's feat will serve as the

Life of foreign Students in California

What are the things that you must take note of when you’re studying in California? Aside from tuition fees we should also consider the quality of education when it comes to choosing the right university.

Do you intend to attend school as an international student in California? If so, you should be aware of California's tuition costs. In this article we will include the least expensive universities in California that accept international students because most students want to cut costs.

International students in the US pay the same tuition as those from other states. In essence, I determined the out-of-state tuition at each California university. That would be the tuition charge for students from other countries.

Searching for scholarships in other states is something else you should try. All international students with a specific GPA are eligible for full-tuition scholarships from the University of Alabama. The USA Scholarship Category and 20+ Best Scholarships in the USA are two more places where you can discover information.

For overseas students, the application process is almost the same. With a few exceptions, you only need to follow the instructions for American students. First off, since you are not qualified for federal help, you will not need to submit the FAFSA if you are applying for scholarships. You must secondly prove that you are proficient in English by taking the TOEFL or IELTS.

San Diego State University, Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University, San José State University, Humboldt State University, California State University Stanislaus and California State Polytechnic Pomona are some of the cheap universities in California for foreign students.

There are many reasons to consider studying in California. If you're considering studying in California, you'll have plenty of options to choose from. In California, Filipinos make up the majority of the Asian-American population. The Little Manila district in Stockton, California is a historical Filipinotown that was established in the early 20th century. Many Filipinos crossed the Pacific after the United States annexed the Philippines as a colony in 1902 to pursue their fortunes closer to the heart of the empire. This community was centered around the city's Filipino Quarter, which was located near the waterfront. The Quarter was a popular destination for Filipino sailors, who often visited the area to buy and sell goods. It later become home to a large population of Filipino Americans, who worked in the agricultural fields surrounding the city. In the 1940s, the Little Manila district was the largest concentration of Filipinos in the United States. Filipino businesses, including restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries were established in the area. It also became a center for Filipino cultural life, with Filipino clubs and organizations often holding meetings and events in the area.

Little Manila had taken decades to develop, but from the 1960s through the 1980s, Stockton's municipal government implemented urban redevelopment plans that fundamentally altered the area. the district declined in the following decades as the Filipino town residents were displaced by urban redevelopment. What was once known as Little Manila in Stockton is largely gone. As urban growth and a highway encroached, the majority of the structures were demolished. Buildings and businesses were demolished to create room for a cross-town motorway.

Today, an organization called Little Manila Rising (formerly known as Little Manila Foundation), was founded to stop the neighborhood's continued devastation, and in 2001 they were successful in convincing the city to declare Little Manila as a historical site. Over the next two decades, Little Manila Rising grew as a historical preservation organization, and implemented an after-school program in partnership with groups like the Filipino American National Historical Society. Only two of Little Manila's original structures still stand.

The Coachella Festival began out very differently and is now one of the most popular music events in the world. It is a well known event held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The inaugural event took place in 1999. It lasted for two days and featured performances by about 40 bands and individuals. Although 37,000 tickets were sold and it received positive reviews, it was a financial fiasco for the organizers, who lost $850,000. They persisted, holding the festival once more in 2001 and 2002. They lost money both times, but each year it was a little less. Finally, the festival turned a profit in 2003. Coachella was named "America's Best Music Festival" by the renowned music publication "Rolling Stone" in 2004 after more than 100,000 tickets were sold. The festival's length was extended by the organizers to

Coachella is about more than just music; it's also about art. Massive installations by designers and visual artists adorn the festival's grounds.

Despite its popularity, Coachella has occasionally drawn flak throughout the years. The event was created to showcase independent acts, not well-known musicians, according to critics. Rage Against the Machine and Morrisey were prominent in the early years, whereas commercial bands and electronic dance music predominated in more recent years. Critics also point out that the festival is drawing an increasing number of media figures, including influencers and celebrities hungry for publicity, and that it is promoting not only the music but also the sponsors' companies. So, is Coachella a musical paradise or a hollow, for-profit gathering? You may decide for yourself whether to attend the event in person or not the following year because it will be live streamed on three different YouTube channels. Coachella is undoubtedly seen as the symbolic beginning of the concert season by both enthusiasts and detractors. This year's iteration appears to have been a success. In the summer of 2022, there will be a lot of music if the pandemic continues to recede.

According to the Pew Research Center, the number of Filipinos living in the U.S. has nearly doubled since 2007, reaching a total of nearly 4 million in 2017.
